(I call them 'dunechickens', because there are so many ;)There is some wind. The temperature is great 9c. In the distance a local road and holidaypark. About this area ' Estate 't Waetermeschien 'In This area you can spend your holiday on this unique location in midst of the dunes. Only a short walk away you’ll find yourself on the beautiful beach of Zeeland.Coming up to the estate you will notice right away that you’re at a special place.The main house where there used to be many pumps working day and night, (from as early as 1884) to ensure fresh water for the people of the area. Since 1995 the pump station has been shut down and is now in use as a living residence. A large portion of the 8 acres wide estate is for the most part freely accessible for visitors, within the guided paths for safety reasons. Outside of the paths there are deep wells that are kept for prosperity but certainly can be dangerous. Next to the main building there are four workers homes which used to be occupied by workers from the pump station. Now one of the houses, which was fully renovated in 2006, is for rent. Behind the buildings are two freshwater cellars which where used for storing the water. These cellars also will be renovated in the future.
