| 描述: | WindyafternooninwhichIventuredtotrytofindthewaytotheaeolianantennasofthenorthofLisbon.Afterafewhoursoffailedattempts,Ifinallyfoundthewaytooneofthem,afteraskingdirectionstoamaninaquarryontheoutskirtsofZambujal(thenearestvillagetotherecordingsite).Iwasobligedtofindastrategicpositiontoprotectthemicrophonesfromthestrongwind.Evenwiththemicrophonesprotectedbymyhomemadefluffywindshields,thewindwasdominantandwouldspoiltherecordingifItooknoothercare.WhatIdidwasusearugthatIalwayshaveinthetrunkofthecartodampersomedryvegetationontheprotectedsideofasmallmoundnexttotheantenna.SinceIusethemicrophonesnexttotheearsattachedtothesetofearphones,therecordingwasmadewithmelyingonthefloorinthemiddleofthedryvegetation. ThereareseveralaspectsthatIfindquiteinterestinginlisteningtothepiece.Thefirstandlargest(whichinonewayoranotherinvolvesrecordingasawhole)isthedualitybetweentherelationsofanthropogenicandnaturalforces(geoandbiogenic).Iinfluencedthisaspectwithaninterventioninthelandscape:Ihungasmallmetallicbellinsomeshrubsthatdancedwiththewindsome7metersaway.Thisbellringssporadicallyinthefirsthalfoftherecording(first2minutes),wheneventuallytheplantswilloscillate.Thebladesofthewindgeneratorprobablyhavethetimbrethatmostfascinatesmeinthisrecording.Itisthepartofthemachinewhosesoundresultsonlyofthenaturalforceofthewind,asopposedtothemonotonousconstanthumoftheelectricgenerator.Thetrackofairturbulenceleftbythepaddlewhenitpassesismajesticandisdifferenteachtime.Theappearanceofaverylowrumbleofanairplaneisalsoaneventthatpleasesmebytheblurrinessthatithasinthelowerfrequenciesofthewindpassingthroughtheblades.Initiallyitisonlyalowfrequencymassthatisindistinguishablefromtherestor,ifdistinguishable,incomprehensible.Then,graduallyitbecomesclearerthatitisthesoundofthejetthatfliesoverthelandscape.Afterthejetplane,at2minutes,theperspectiveoftherecordingchangesslightly(collagecrossfade),toaslightlymorecenteredandundertheantennaposition.Atthispointthestereoofthepassingofthebladesismorenoticeableanddefined.Youcanalsohearadelicateandbrightcracklingofthedrybushesthatmovewiththewindaboveme/themicrophones.At2:52abeautifulanduniquepunctuationofwhatIbelievetobeaninsect(orperhapsabird).
