| 描述: | The Kanun is a string instrument related to the zither. The Kanuns used in Turkey have 26 courses of strings, with three strings per course. It is played on the lap by plucking the strings with two tortoiseshell picks, one in each hand, or by the fingernails, and has a range of three and a half octaves, from A2 to E6. This recording was done in the studio of Ruhi Ayagil, a Kanun soloist, composer, conductor and great expert of Makam music from Istanbul (Turkey). He allowed me to record him playing some sounds on the Kanun. The recording was done on February 18th 2011 with a Sony PCMD50 (First of two recordings).
