| 描述: | Sound does not coincide with itself. It is disjunctive, full of holes and exits and openings. A representational approach to naming sounds that purports to name the soundinitself has failed to note the rupture that field recording inaugurates. Recording does not provide a 1:1 correspondence between an 'image' (the recording) and 'reality' (the sound that is being recorded); instead, it alienates it. Recording turns sound into something else. Naming conventions for field recordings should, then, be abstract and refer to processes beyond its immediate happening that worked to produce that sound in some way. One sound taken from the 'Microblocks, vol.1' percussive found sound samplepack. The samplepack features 135 unique field recordings culled from the ordinary soundscapes of Santa Cruz, CA. Find and download (for free) the rest of the sample pack here: https://fieldrecordingworkinggroup.bandcamp.com/releases The sample pack comes with an accompanying essay describing the method, politics and historical context of the samplepack. |
