| 描述: | Recorded on June 11, 2010 at Boykin Springs park in East Texas at dusk. Used 2 NTA1 mics with a Marantz PMD661 recorder. 120 degree mic spacing, 20 centimeters apart, about 18 inches off ground in the middle of a 1015 foot wide creek. Stereo Recording Angle of 42.16 degrees (SRA is essentially the mono portion of the signal, which is recorded into both mics check this site to test your own mic angles and spacings : http://www.sengpielaudio.com/VisualizationEBSE.htm one note of interest is that to get good stereo width above 700 Hz, you need to angle your stereo mics, so as to create an intensity difference in dB's between what the mics pick up that's how your ear perceives stereo above 700 Hz; to get good stereo width below 700 Hz, you need to space the stereo mics, so as to get a timing difference (in either milliseconds or microseconds), which is how your ears perceive stereo below 700 Hz To get a combination that your ears like, experiment with the settings at the link above). The water you hear was maybe 2 inches deep at most, flowing over a groovedout sandstone creekbed. Thick foliage on both banks, to my left and right, consisting mostly of honeysuckle. Towering, 100+ foot pine trees overhead. Plenty of mosquitoes. Not a stitch of a breeze. About 95 degrees in the shade at sunset with a heat index of 105, roughly 8090 humidity. Tried to set up an equilateral triangle between mics and creekbed to prevent any angular/geometric distortion in stereo image during playback (in other words, what you hear at 45 degrees to your right/left with only your ears also shows up at 45 degrees to the right/left in the stereo image of your finished recording, as opposed to ending up too close to the center or too far to the outside). Seemed to work good with this recording. Wished I'd been more mindful of the equilateral triangle when I recorded at Sabine Pass, Texas, but that's part of the fun of recording stuff in nature, at least for myself. It's always a learning experience |
